Targeted exercise to reduce fatigue and muscle loss.

Join these sessions to maintain or rebuild your fitness, mobility and muscle strength. Moderate intensity activity is beneficial for therapy related side effects, for managing mood and improving health outcomes.

In these exercise sessions, Emily will:

  • Aim for a moderate intensity session though please listen to your body and take more rest breaks/lighten intensity as feels appropriate for your current situation
  • Offer adaptions and progressions to cater for most abilities and particular considerations
  • Be using small dumbbells, OR filled bottles/cans, OR a resistance band. Do contact Emily if you need help to source such an item/s

Waiver

Everyone’s strength and fitness journey is unique. Please approach each session with self-awareness and respect for your body’s limits. Prioritise your safety by consulting with your oncology team before starting any fitness programme.

How do I book?

  1. Go to the table below and click the date you want to attend and click book
  2. You will be sent an email with the zoom link invitation details (you must book your place to get the latest zoom link)
  3. You will also be prompted to complete a Pre-Course Survey which contains a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ) so we can ensure your safety. This is mandatory before your first session with Emily and participation without it is at your own risk.
  4. If you have additional needs, advanced cancer/bone metastases, significant mobility/balance issues, significant lymphoedema or are on active treatment, our exercise specialists are available for one-to-one support with your exercise programme. Adult Nursing BSc and Cancer Exercise Specialist

Emily is the Physical Activity Lead at Penny Brohn UK, and she is driving the development of inclusive, evidence-based programs to support individuals with cancer. Drawing from her background in Haematology & Oncology Nursing and previous work as a Personal Trainer for people with cancer at GenesisCare, Emily recognises the therapeutic benefits of physical activity in addressing side effects and long-term impacts of cancer treatment. Her passion for strength training and diverse movement practices fuels her vision of creating a holistic physical activity programme that nurtures mind, body, and soul.
