A picture of Barnes

I graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in London, the oldest and largest osteopathy college in Europe, with a Masters level degree. My five year osteopathic training included in depth study of anatomy, physiology, pathology, neurology and rheumatology as well as employing a wide variety of osteopathic technique and principles such as spinal adjustment and soft tissue.

I have over 1000 clinical experiences under the guidance of qualified osteopaths and experience in working in several clinics including elderly care homes, hospitals and children’s clinics, as well as working with the homeless. I chose osteopathy as I had first hand experience of the transformation it can achieve, and I have seen the profound changes it can make to peoples’ lives. I was so enthused by the results that I changed my career path, from that of qualified accountant to qualified osteopath.

A picture of Rebecca Paten, a therapist

Rebecca is a long-time supporter of Penny Brohn UK, she is a Eurhythmy Movement Therapist.

“I have 22 years of experience working with people for a wide range of health needs, from chronic headaches or insomnia, to emotional trauma and general mental health, and I am qualified with a Bachelor’s Degree at the Academy for Eurhythmy.

Movement is important for all-around physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. Eurhythmy is a gentle movement practice that can be done by all ages and all mobilities. The exercises are easy to learn and can be done standing or seated.

Following a eurhythmy session, people usually feel calmer, more sure of themselves and happier. If you are struggling to shift the same nagging health issues, it might be worth trying something new to make a difference. Try a one-off session to simply relax and re-focus, or a series of sessions for a specific need such as anxiety, stress, or depression.”

Fleur was introduced to the space at The Hub by her daughter who enjoyed shopping with us and she’s been a part of the team ever since, offering a range of holistic therapies including Homeopathy, Reflexology and Massage here several days a week.

“I am an experienced complementary therapist who has been in practice for over 20 years. I am a Homeopath, Reflexologist, Massage Therapist and Deepbody Psychotherapist. I built my initial practice in London before moving to Bristol 3 years ago.

Along my professional journey, I found myself increasingly interested in mental health and am fascinated how often our emotional and physical symptoms are symbiotic. My practice has evolved to consider timelines of illness and to treat not just the presenting symptoms but to also treat the possible cause or emotional aetiology, finding the starting point of the symptoms, rather than only offering a short-term ‘fix’ to reoccurring issues. I also offer one-off treatments for relaxation and/or acute illness.

I often use combined elements of all my skills in whatever therapy you wish to have, to ensure that you will receive a tailored, bespoke treatment on every visit.”

A picture of Markus, a therapist at the Hub

Markus is an experienced Shiatsu practitioner who has supported many people during and following their experience of cancer diagnosis and treatments.

“My Shiatsu approach is influenced by my love of free and expressive movement. Shiatsu touch offers a safe environment to explore physical and emotional issues, where emotions can be witnessed, felt, and released.

I have been practising Shiatsu for nearly 30 years, specialising in cancer care, chronic holding patterns, tension release and relaxation.

I am a registered Shiatsu teacher with the Shiatsu Society and The Bristol School of Shiatsu as well as working with Penny Brohn UK since 2009.

Shiatsu can help with the integration of the emotional and mental impact of a cancer diagnosis, surgery and treatments. It offers deep relaxation during a very stressful time in someone’s life, and can help the body to restore, to soothe and to relax. Shiatsu can also offer respite and support for carers, allowing for time and space to attend to their own physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor that offers a relational, collaborative way of working. I strive to provide a safe, secure, and validating space where we can work together to identify, explore, and navigate your emotional wellbeing. You may have come to counselling with a specific issue you wish to focus on such as loss and grief, trauma or more generalised feelings of stress, anxiety, or low mood. I am committed to offering time to reflect in a non-judgemental, empathic, and confidential environment to look at difficult feelings and experiences, as sharing our unspoken thoughts and feelings can have a transformative effect.

I work integrating Humanistic approaches, but also drawing aspects from the Psychodynamic model of therapy exploring how past experiences may influence present thoughts and behaviour. I have a Certificate in Somatic Trauma as I have a keen interest in how people hold onto and express trauma and how experiences of loss and trauma manifest in the body.

My aim is for you to feel safe within a good therapeutic relationship based on trust and understanding. This will enable you to feel more comfortable expressing your most difficult thoughts and feelings . I offer a free 20 minute initial telephone or online consultation to discuss what brings you to counselling and what you would like to achieve.

My name is Kirsty, I am a Craniosacral Therapist registered with CSTA. Craniosacral Therapy supports the body to readjust and realign to a greater expression and experience of health and vitality. Through CST emotional, physical and energetic patterns of tension and holding can be given the opportunity to release and reform. I am particularly passionate about supporting people to befriend their nervous system, as when we build the capacity and understanding to work with our nervous system, we can feel empowered and resilient.

I also work at Penny Brohn UK helping to organise the Retreats and Wellbeing Days at our National Centre in Pill. I really love bringing my understanding of the body and the nervous system into the sessions that I facilitate online and in-person.
