Strength and stamina with Sean Blair, a valued associate of Penny Brohn UK.

Join these sessions to maintain or rebuild your fitness, mobility and muscle strength. Moderate intensity activity is beneficial for therapy related side effects, for managing mood and improving health outcomes.

How do I book?

  1. Complete the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ) in full to ensure your safety. This is mandatory before your first session and participation without it is at your own risk
  2. If you have additional needs, advanced cancer/bone metastases, significant mobility/balance issues, significant lymphoedema or are on active treatment, our exercise specialists are available for one-to-one support with your exercise programme. Please contact client support  to book an appointment Otherwise contact Sean.blair@pennybrohn.org.uk if you have any queries
  3. Click the date you want to attend and click book
  4. You will be sent an email with the zoom link invitation details (you must book your place to get the latest zoom link)

Please complete this ideally two days before the above event to allow time for this to be reviewed by the movement team.

In these exercise sessions, Sean will:

  • Aim for a moderate intensity session though please listen to your body and take more rest breaks/lighten intensity as feels appropriate for your current situation
  • Offer adaptions and progressions to cater for most abilities and particular considerations
  • Be using small dumbbells, OR filled bottles/cans, OR a resistance band. Do contact Sean if you need help to source such an item/s

Everyone’s strength and fitness journey is unique. Please approach each session with self-awareness and respect for your body’s limits. Prioritise your safety by consulting with your oncology team before starting any fitness programme.

BA Hons, Level 4 Cancer Rehabilitation Exercise Specialist

Sean joined Penny Brohn UK in 2023 after qualifying as a cancer rehabilitation specialist in 2022. He has several years’ experience prior to this as a personal trainer to the general population. Following his recovery from Hodgkins’ Lymphoma, Sean decided to work exclusively with people whose lives had been affected by cancer. He now works in the NHS and with several charities including Penny Brohn UK.
