FAQs

Relaxation Room is a weekly session and opportunity to support your body to relax. This group session includes a guided relaxation which usually lasts 20-25 minutes. The practitioner will also offer simple take-away tools and techniques to support your body and mind to relax in your own time.

When we slow down and give our body and mind the opportunity of deeper rest, we support our body and our nervous system to move from being in a more activated state to a state of rest, digest and repair. When we move into this more regulated state the body has more capacity for healing processes and our immune system can strengthen.

Relaxation Room is a very gentle session suitable for anyone with a cancer diagnosis. You are also welcome to ignore any of the guided suggestions during the sessions which don’t feel right for you.

The session starts with a brief introduction to the theme, the practitioner will then go into the guided relaxation and end with time to reflect on the different tool. There is sometimes space at the end to share your experience, there is no obligation here to say anything and you are welcome to have your camera on or off.

Find somewhere where you can sit or lie comfortably for about 30 mins. Make sure you have any warmth or pillows you need with you. It’s also useful to turn off any notifications on your phone/computer device if possible.

“I feel so relaxed – just what is needed in the middle of my busy day.”

“I go into hospital tomorrow for major surgery on Thursday and this was helpful in quietening my anxious mind”

“It is difficult to put into words how relaxing and beneficial this felt to me. Some of the relaxation exercises are useful to practice again and again as and when needed. The room you introduced us to through the carved door in our guided meditation is one we can revisit whenever we close our eyes. It feels like a true sanctuary.”
