Life Beyond Cancer
This online 4-week programme is designed to support you in navigating life beyond cancer treatment, using an approach rooted in coaching psychology.
The period after cancer treatment can be a time of deep reflection and uncertainty. While the physical recovery may be complete, many people find themselves navigating invisible challenges.
This program is designed to support you in that space of “what now?”, with a specific focus each week:
- Week 1: Making Sense of My experience
- Week 2: Building Confidence and Coping
- Week 3: Finding Meaning and Moving Forward
- Week 4: Thriving Beyond Surviving – Creating My Future
Through a supportive blend of guided coaching, reflective exercises, and group conversation, each session will explore themes such as building confidence, exploring new purpose, managing uncertainty to help you understand your story, reconnect with your strengths, and begin to build a future that feels meaningful.
This course is now fully booked. There may be future sessions available so keep an eye out on our website, social media, and email newsletters!
Please note, this course is not provided or funded by Penny Brohn UK, however when you register for this course your details will be shared with Penny Brohn UK.

FAQs
Grounded in psychological principles, coaching provides a structured space to explore challenges, build on strengths and develop actionable strategies for growth, aligned specifically to your needs. It is a process of collaboration and support enabling you to meet your goals.
If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed or unsure of your next steps, coaching can help build confidence and support you to move forward towards your goals.
Some people have a personal trainer for their body, coaching is like a personal trainer for the mind. It’s a space to be heard, supported and gently guided forward towards your own goals. In this coaching programme you will be offered space to reflect on your experience, process the changes you’ve been through, and start thinking about what really matters to you.
In this four-week programme, the themes are:
Monday 4 Aug – Week 1: Making Sense of My Experience
This first session offers a chance to pause and reflect on your experiences and how they have shaped you, understand how you feel different, and start reframing difficulties and challenges into meaningful narratives to help you move forward.
Mon 11 Aug – Week 2: Building Confidence and Coping
This session focuses on identifying and activating your internal strengths and external support systems to help you build confidence and emotional resilience. You will look at how to manage what’s in your control, identify the tools, people, and personal qualities that have helped you so far—and explore simple ways to keep building on them.
Mon 18 Aug – Week 3: Finding Meaning and Moving Forward
In this session, you’ll take time to reconnect with your values, passions, and sense of purpose. Whether you’re feeling stuck or simply searching for more direction, you’ll be guided to reflect on what gives you joy, clarify your values and imagine a future that feels more aligned and fulfilling.
Mon 25 Aug – Week 4: Creating Sustainable Future – Thriving Beyond Survival
The final session helps you take everything you’ve discovered and put it into practice. You’ll create a simple, personal plan which could include setting goals, designing weekly habits or just leaving with a clearer sense or direction and renewed energy to carry forward your growth.
This programme is for anyone who has had cancer treatment or is on long term treatment and is wondering, “What now?” It’s for anyone who may feel a bit lost, different, or unsure of how to move forward, or for those that have an idea but would like some support. Coaching is a space for everyone to reflect, have the space to talk and work towards a goal no matter how big or small.
The 4-week programme is offered as a progressive course, rather than a drop-in service, and is designed for participants to attend every session. If you have existing commitments and know that you will be unable to attend some of these dates, this may not be suitable for you at this time. We are aware that things can come up unexpectedly and if during the course you are unable to attend any session you are requested to let the course leader Freya know directly: fnichol2@stu.chi.ac.uk
If you are unable to make this 4-week programme we have two further programmes scheduled to start 22nd Sept and 3rd of November for 4 weeks each.
