The Penny Brohn UK Sound Sanctuary is an opportunity for some deep rest and relaxation. These sessions are designed to soothe your nervous system and nourish both mind and body. Rebecca uses gentle instruments to create an oasis of sound that encourages deep relaxation; slow, rhythmic vibrations that help melt away tension, creating a feeling of inner calm.
The Sound Sanctuary sessions will guide you into a peaceful, restorative state, leaving you feeling both grounded and refreshed.
Rebecca Crossthwaite
Rebecca is a Sound healing practitioner & Biodynamic Craniosacral therapist . A former community midwife, she has years of experience supporting individuals through deep healing processes, Rebeccca integrates vibrational sound therapy to promote relaxation, emotional release, and nervous system regulation. She is passionate about creating safe and transformative spaces, guiding clients toward balance and wellbeing.

Sound Sanctuary is a deeply relaxing 60 minute session held at the Penny Brohn UK centre using sound to support the body, mind and nervous system to feel nourished and reset. The practitioner will use a collection of different gentle instruments and take you on a sound journey guiding you into deeper rest. It is a monthly session and will also be a chance to connect with others at the beautiful Penny Brohn UK centre.
Sound waves bring the body into the ‘parasympathetic state’ where rest and digest cellular functioning occurs, the heart rate is soothed and nervous system becomes more regulated. Essentially, restorative inner movement takes place.
If we think of the nature of sound – which is to vibrate in sonic waves – then sound healing is like an energetic spring clean. Where the body is bathed in vibrations so as to clear the cobwebs and shake loose stagnant energy.
Sound healing, music and making sound acts as a tool for meditation! A chance to fully immerse, pause, reflect and be truly present, giving the mind something to focus on while the body relaxes a little.
The Journal of Alternative & Complementary Medicine undertook studies which showed sound healing improving their participants’ immune system function – increasing production of immune cells and reducing inflammation.
This is a very gentle session suitable for anyone with a cancer diagnosis.
The session will be held in the Sitting Room at the Penny Brohn UK centre, where there are comfy reclining chairs to sit and get comfy on and a lovely view of the gardens.
Wear something you can feel cozy and comfortable in. Bring a blanket or extra jumper if you think you may be cold staying still for up to 60 minutes. It’s also useful to turn off any notifications on your phone/computer device if possible.
