His Majesty King Charles III announced as Patron of Penny Brohn UK
7th May 2024
Today, Penny Brohn UK is delighted to announce that His Majesty King Charles III is confirmed as the Patron of Penny Brohn UK.
As Prince of Wales, His Majesty became Patron of Penny Brohn UK in 1980, and became close friends with our founders Penny Brohn and Pat Pilkington. He has long been a supporter of our personalised cancer care approach, and will continue to champion the work of Penny Brohn UK as Patron.
On 6 May 2023, the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Queen Camilla took place at Westminster Abbey, and to celebrate the first anniversary of this date, His Majesty has chosen to continue his Patronage of Penny Brohn UK.
Following his own cancer diagnosis in February 2024, His Majesty took a break from public-facing duties to receive treatment, and returned with a visit to a hospital and specialist cancer centre on 30th April 2024.
At Penny Brohn UK, we support people to live well with cancer, and offer a range of services and tools to support health and wellbeing. A cancer diagnosis affects every aspect of a person’s life, from their physical, emotional, and spiritual health to their work, family and relationships. Evidence shows that supporting your physical and emotional resilience during cancer can improve your outcome, and we are pleased that as Patron, His Majesty King Charles III will continue to support our valuable work and the support we can offer to people with cancer.
Find out more about the toolbox of support we offer for people with cancer on our website here. Our services are free to use, backed by evidence and many are offered online so you can join from wherever you are.
