We're giving back. Will you?
As the days grow longer and the flowers begin to bloom in the gardens at the Penny Brohn UK National Centre, Spring brings a gentle reminder of new beginnings. It’s the season of growth and renewal. A time when life begins again.
For someone affected by cancer, that sense of renewal can feel distant. Treatment can be overwhelming. Recovery isn’t always straightforward. But with the right support, people can find their way — not just back to themselves, but forward into something new.
At Penny Brohn UK, we’ve spent over 40 years helping people affected by cancer create space to heal, rebuild, and grow in mind, body, and spirit. Because we know that, just like in nature, people need care and attention to flourish, even in the most difficult conditions.
“You can have an experience like mine and feel like it was 18 months of my life totally wasted – lying in bed, feeling terrible – and I’ll never get that back. Or you can decide to use it.” — Harvey, volunteer Trustee
Harvey came to us after his treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Through mindfulness, movement and connection, he found his resilience and began to rebuild. Today, he’s a volunteer trustee for Penny Brohn UK, giving back by supporting the charity and others on their own path — as well as taking on some fundraising of his own!
Bina found Penny Brohn UK at a different stage of her cancer experience. For her, the National Centre became a place where she felt safe, seen and fully herself again. Now, as a volunteer trustee too, she’s helping to shape a space where others feel held, just like she once did.
“Penny Brohn UK is my safe place. The moment I drive through the gates, I immediately think; this is where I can just be Bina. Because I haven’t been ‘me’ for five years.” — Bina, volunteer Trustee
If you’ve ever visited our beautiful gardens, you’ll know the care and attention we give them so they can thrive. People living with cancer need that same kind of nourishment and care.
Right now, too many people are facing cancer without access to this kind of support. We know that’s not right.
This Spring, will you help us change that?
With your support, we can reach more people like Bina and Harvey — people looking not just to survive, but to truly live well.
